Kyle Busch continued his domination of the NASCAR XFINITY Series on Saturday Afternoon at Kansas Speedway.
Busch scored his ninth win of the 2016 season and 85th career XFINITY Series win holding off Elliott Sadler by 4.025 seconds. For Busch, it was another masterful performance leading a race high 150 of 200 laps while scoring his third consecutive XFINITY Series win at Kansas.
“There were a lot of things trying to work against us toward the end, but we just persevered,” said Busch, who at one point was a lap down. “We had great speed. I think we showed it all weekend. It was just a matter of putting it all together and ending up in victory lane, where we deserved to be.”
Sadler, who finished second was happy overall with his team’s performance but knows they have work to do if they want to beat Busch and the No.18 car.
“Everyone is starting off square,” Sadler said, “so you’re trying to get a point here and get a point there. Now everybody will have different strategies as we go to Texas and Phoenix.”
“We had a great race. So proud of my team,” He said. “We kept working on the car, working on the car, getting better and better. I just have to do a better job of out-running that 18 car.”
Daniel Suarez finished third followed by: Joey Logano and Kyle Larson rounded out the top five.
Regan Smith, Brennan Poole, Brandon Jones, Blake Koch, and J.J. Yeley rounded out the top ten finishers.
Four of the remaining eight chasers encountered issues on Saturday. One of which was Erik Jones, who saw potential victory slip away on the final restart after being tagged by Kyle Larson which forced the No.20 car down pit road and relegated Jones to a 15th place finish.
Justin Allgaier, Darrell Wallace Jr., and Brendan Gaughan all saw promising days end in wrecks. Allgaier would finish 14th, Gaughan 31st, and Wallace 33rd.
The NASCAR XFINITY Series will return to action in three weeks at Texas Motor Speedway.
