Red Bull Racing teammates Shane van Gisbergen and Jamie Whincup are set for a showdown on the streets of Sydney this weekend to decide the winner of the 2016 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
Van Gisbergen currently leads six-time champion Whincup by 191 points as the young Kiwi driver looks to become the first New Zealander in 25 years to win the title.
With 300 points up for grabs this weekend, the pair today joined Supercars legend Craig Lowndes in Sydney ahead of this weekend’s season finale, the Coates Hire Sydney 500 at Sydney Olympic Park.
This weekend’s race will be the final Supercars event at Sydney Olympic Park with the race to move to Newcastle in 2017.

Practice will begin tomorrow Friday December 2 with the first of two 250 kilometre races on Saturdayfollowed the final race on Sunday. Entry will free to fans tomorrow Friday and a concert featuring Killing Heidi, Rogue Traders and Stonefield will be held at Cathy Freeman Park following Saturday’s race.
