It was announced on January 19 during the St. Louis Auto Show that leading retailer of new and used vehicles in the St. Louis region, Bommarito Automotive Group, will be the title sponsor for the Verizon IndyCar Series race at Gateway Motorsports Park which is scheduled to run on August 26.
“We are pleased to announce that Bommarito Automotive Group will join Gateway Motorsports Park in the production of our inaugural INDYCAR event as the title sponsor,” Curtis Francois, owner and CEO of Gateway Motorsports Park stated. “This is a tremendous event for the St. Louis region and no one knows our town better than the folks at Bommarito. They are a progressive group, known for a high standard of quality and excellence. It’s the same standard of on-track action and family-friendly experience that we look forward to delivering with our landmark event.”
This will be the first IndyCar race ran at Gateway since 2003 under CART and IndyCar sanctioning and was raced between 1997- 2003. Some of the names who visited victory lane at Gateway include Paul Tracy, Alex Zanardi, Michael Andretti, Juan Pablo Montoya, All Unser Jr., Gil deFerran and Helio Castroneves. The weekend festivities will consist of competition with the two upper series of the Mazda Road to Indy presented by Cooper Tires including Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires as well as Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires along with Verizon IndyCar.
