During his scheduled media availability on Friday, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was introduced by Darlington Raceway President Kerry Tharp.
Tharp presented Dale with a commemorative print that highlighted Earnhardt’s career. He also announced said that in an effort to cultivate the growth of the sport, the track will start donating 88 tickets annually in the names of Dale and Amy Earnhardt. The tickets will be given to young adults that live in the surrounding area to help bring in the next generation of fans.
After the introduction, Earnhardt took the microphone and gave his thoughts on the track.
“The track has meant a lot to my family,” … “This track has earned my respect more than any other.
“I know my dad would be proud of it, I take a lot of pride in it”.
Earnhardt was 12th and 13th in the two practice sessions on Friday. He will qualify for his final race at the track that has earned his respects the most Saturday at 1:45 p.m.
