Sandusky, Ohio (Aug. 26, 2014) – Johnny Sauter, driver of the No. 98 Nextant Aerospace/Curb Records Toyota Tundra, has made seven road-course starts across NASCAR’s top three divisions since 2005 including, two starts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2007, four starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2005 and 2006, and one start in last year’s inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) event at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (CTMP) in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. While the ThorSport Racing driver has been quoted as “loving road course racing,” he classifies himself as being “ok” at making the left and right turns. In fact, Sauter started third and finished a career-best sixth in his third career NASCAR Nationwide Series road course event in 2006 in Mexico City. The NCWTS championship point leader hopes his team’s full-day test session, at a local track in Ohio, in preparation for the 2nd annual event, and his former road course racing experience will pay dividends in his quest for his first Truck Series crown.
NASCAR Road Course Racing Experience:
Sounding Off – Johnny Sauter: “Canadian Tire Motorsports Park is a cool place. Obviously, very fast — that’s what I remember taking away from there last year. We unfortunately had trouble with our fuel cable on lap two of the race and fought that the rest of the day, so I didn’t really have an opportunity to race a whole lot. I didn’t think I was the greatest and I still don’t think I’m the greatest road racer, but I’ve had some decent days on road courses in the past, so if we unload pretty decent then I think we’ll be in good shape. I’m looking forward to getting there and it’s something that’s unique and something we don’t get to do a lot in the Truck Series. From what I saw, it got pretty crazy last year, but it’s a cool race track and I remember the crowd and the whole atmosphere being pretty awesome.”
