TRACK BEST FINISH FOR BURTON IN CANADA

Bowmanville, ON (Sept. 1, 2014) – The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) visited Canadian Tire Motorsports Park for the 2nd annual NCWTS 250 on Sunday afternoon. Jeb Burton, driver of the No. 13 Estes Toyota Tundra was looking for redemption after a 22nd-place finish in the inaugural event, and although the ThorSport Racing driver suffered from mechanical issues throughout the weekend, he was able to bring home a 17th-place finish at the 2.459-mile road course north of the boarder. The result was a track-best finish for Burton in just two starts at the 10-turn road course.

Burton qualified his No. 13 Toyota Tundra in the 17th-postion for the lone road course race on the 2014 NCWTS schedule, but was forced to the rear of the field prior to the start of the 64-lap event for unapproved adjustments following a transmission change after qualifying. The Estes driver worked his way through traffic in the opening laps and was scored inside the top-15 by lap 10 and surrendered a 13th-place position on lap 13 for the first of two scheduled pit stops for four tires and fuel. Shortly after the first round of stops, Burton radioed into his crew that he lost third gear, but maintained a competitive pace on the field until bringing his Tundra to pit road for the final stop on lap 40 for four tires and fuel. Burton maintained a position inside the top-20 for the final 24 laps, as he continued to battle with transmission issues, and crossed the stripe in the 17th position behind race winner Ryan Blaney.

“I thought we had a pretty good truck, but I broke a transmission in qualifying which forced us to start in the rear of the field and unfortunately, I broke another transmission in the race. Jeriod’s pit strategy would have worked out really well for us if the race had gone green the whole distance, but it didn’t and those restarts killed us.
