(Grand Bend ON) The Canada Day Weekend this year at Grand Bend Speedway will certainly be one to remember. Grand Bend Speedway officials announced over the weekend the most ambitious racing event they have ever scheduled. The Grand Bend Speedway Bash at the Beach is slated to be the largest event in recent memory that the speedway has ever held.
To help commemorate the 50thanniversary of the Lucas Oil Can-Am Midget Club, the speedway has given the nod to the club to headline the event which will feature Twin 25 laps features for the High Speed winged Warriors. In their only scheduled appearance, the Can-Am Midgets always put on one of the most thrilling shows on the tour when they hit the tight confines of Grand Bend Speedway.
Sharing the bill will be the INEX Legend Car Series. Teams from the Ontario Legends, Michigan Legends, Ohio Legends, Grand Bend Speedway Legend teams will be invited to participate in the event which boasts the highest purse of any Legends event in the area. Grand Bend Speedway will offer the winner of the event $1000 for their efforts. Legends teams from Canada and US will be invited to participate.
Not to be outdone. Grand Bend Speedway will offer the winner of their most popular class, the 4Fun 4Cylinders a winners take home pay of $500. Teams from Delaware Speedways Bone Stock Enduro, and Full Throttle Speedways Pure Stock classes will be invited to take on the Bull Ring by The Beach on that Saturday evening.
At one time in Speedway history, the 9hp Winged Sprints ruled the speedway, in both the car count and excitement. Often the lead would changes hands multiple times per lap on any given night. The series had fallen on tough times in recent years, but has been making a strong comeback. The 9hp Sprints will return for a $250 to win feature race that will likely see the return of some big name stars that once dominated the speedways win columns.
There are more exciting details still yet to be announced for this very historic event. Sponsorship details, total prize board, camping, entertainment and spectator information will be announce very shortly.
Come see us at the London Speed and Custom Car Show March 21–22 2015 at The Western Fair District in London ON. The Speedway staff will be on hand to answer any questions and share racing stories.
