Led Whelen Modified Tour Practice at New Hampshire
LOUDON, N.H. – Ryan Preece is off to a fast start with a prominent weekend of racing on his docket at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Preece, who will attempt to make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut while also looking to protect his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour points lead, was fastest in F.W. Webb 100 practice Friday morning the “Magic Mile.”
Preece, from Berlin, Connecticut, turned a fast lap of 28.890 seconds (131.838 mph) around the 1.058-mile oval to lead the 34-car field behind the wheel of his No. 6 TS Haulers/East West Marine Chevrolet. Preece leads Woody Pitkat by one point in the championship standings entering the event.
Doug Coby finished second on the speed chart at 29.933 (131.642) followed by Bobby Santos at 29.055 (131.089).
Timmy Solomito, defending race winner Pitkat, Ted Christopher, Justin Bonsignore, Ryan Newman, Andy Seuss and Eric Goodale rounded out the top 10 in the 75-minute session.
Coors Light Pole qualifying is slated to commence today at 5:50 p.m. The F.W. Webb 100 will go green Saturday at approximately 3:30 p.m.
