ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards rookie driver Brandon Lynn competed in his second career ARCA Series race, and his first race on a 1.5 mile track, at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday. The twenty-year old racer battled back from a first lap incident to record a 13th place finish in the Crosley Brands 150.
“Had an awesome car, but got caught up in a first lap wreck in turn three,” Brandon said after the race. “I lifted off the gas for the wreck in front on me and just got run over by the guy coming up behind me. We hustled to get the car fixed and back out on the track without losing a lap – My Lira Motorsports crew really did a great job with that.”
Brandon had qualified his Cribs Creek Outfitters / Momo / Ford Performance / TraqGear Ford Fusion in the 15th position. He has qualified and finished in the top 15 in both of his ARCA Racing Series starts.
In the race, Brandon found himself in the 28th position on the restart from the caution period brought out by the first lap incident. He had made multiple pit stops during the caution for the crew to work on his damaged race car. He raced his way back to the 15th position on lap 21, and was up to 13th when the race was slowed for a brief rain shower on lap 40.
After making pit stops under the rain caution as well as the following caution on lap 69 for the crew to continue to work on his car, Brandon was able to work his way back to the 13th position when the checkered flag fell on the 100 lap race.
“Brandon’s car had significant damage, both to the rear and the right front nose, after the first lap incident,” commented Brandon’s Crew Chief, Danny Johnson. “We had made wholesale changes to the car after the open test on Tuesday, then Brandon only got to turn a few laps in practice before we had to work on a mechanical issue. With the lap one damage combined with the lack of practice time… that young man did an awesome job today to bring it home 13th.”
“Couldn’t ask for a better effort out of crew chief Danny Johnson and the whole crew,” Brandon concluded. “Also, I want to thank my family, friends and sponsors Cribs Creek Outfitters, Momo, TraqGear and Ford Performance for all of their support. Couldn’t have done it without all of you! Off to Kansas next month for the next one!”
Brandon will return to Lira Motorsports on October 16th for the 2015 ARCA Racing Series season finale, The Kansas ARCA 98.9 at Kansas Speedway. The race is scheduled to start at 7:30pm, with live coverage on FOX Sports 1.
