INNISFIL, Ontario — This past weekend at Sunset Speedway, Terry Woodley would have his most impressive run to date as he finished second in the Velocity 250 presented by McColl Racing Enterprises.
“This is just totally unbelievable,” he commented. “I’m just proof that the sun shines on a dog’s ass every once and awhile. Every Saturday night I come out here I run seventh, eighth – I don’t know what the deal was today but she was hooked up.”
He would start off the weekend really well, finishing fourth and first in his qualifying heats to be one of the 18 cars to automatically qualify for the field. Then with the invert in place, he would start the feature from the pole.
Woodley would get off to a good start in the feature, only fading back to the third spot by lap four behind division front runners Andy Kamrath and Brandon McFerran. Woodley was able to keep himself in the third spot all the way till the race’s only caution with four laps to go. Under the caution, Kamrath would bring his car behind the wall with a mechanical issue, bumping Woodley up to the second spot.
Woodley would get a good restart, holding off all challengers, to cross the finish line for a second-place finish.
“I never expected this by any means,” he said. “I was just hoping for a top-10 again to keep that streak going. This is awesome.”
For Woodley, it marks his 13th straight top-10 finish and second top-five in an extended distance feature this season.
