The afternoon practice for the IndyCar Series Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach went smoothly as there were no on-track incidents.
Will Power, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet, took the top spot in second practice. Power normally runs well on street and road courses and is trying to get ready for qualifications tomorrow to get a good spot to start the race. He advanced to the Firestone fast six where he ended up on pole for the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. However, he did not start the race as a result of an inner ear infection.
James Hinchcliffe, driver of the No. 5 Arrow Honda, jumped into the second spot in afternoon practice. Hinchcliffe is looking to have a good qualification run tomorrow and a good starting position for the race on Sunday. He has yet to advance to a fast six this season.
Graham Rahal, driver of the No. 15 Theodore Racing Honda, finished practice in third place. Rahal is looking to carry his mojo from the Grand Prix of Phoenix at Phoenix International Raceway where he finished fifth. Team Penske drivers, Simon Pagenaud, Juan Pablo Montoya and Helio Castroneves finished practice two in fourth, fifth, and sixth positions. They joined their other teammate Power in the top-10.
Josef Newgarden, Scott Dixon, Jack Hawksworth and Carlos Munoz rounded out the top-10 finishing seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth in practice two.
