Nursing an ankle injury after a non-racing related incident, John Wes Townley will miss his third straight NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, and he’ll be replaced by family friend Brady Boswell for the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Boswell, a native of Watkinsville, Georgia, the same hometown as Townley, will compete in his second Truck Series race of the season. Boswell subbed for Townley at Eldora Speedway in July when Townley was out with a concussion.
“I am thankful to Athenian Motorsports for this opportunity,” Boswell said. “We meshed really well when I drove for John Wes (Townley) earlier this year at Eldora. I like their organization and the effort they put into their team.”
Boswell drove a partial schedule for Mason Mitchell Motorsports this year in the ARCA Racing Series where he scored three top-10s, with a best finish of fifth.
The 19-year-old will also bring some sponsorship to the table as longtime supporter Boswell Electrical Supply will join JIVE Communications as an associate sponsor.
“My family has been supportive of my racing since day one and have always supported me with whatever I want to do,” Boswell said. “I am proud to have our family business be a part of this journey with me.”
