HAMILTON, Ontario — Despite running into issues during the first feature at Frostoberfest, Chad Strawn had a great run in the second feature, finishing second.
With qualifying for Frostoberfest (Strawn won his heat) completed on October 2, they’d go straight into their features this past Sunday. Starting from the sixth spot, Strawn was poised to make his way up through the field after showing speed in practice. However, a car would spin up ahead of Strawn early, leaving him nowhere to go with contact with the wall. the result would be multiple broken suspension parts, ending Strawn’s first feature early.
The S&S Racing team would go to work immediately in making the necessary repairs to have Strawn ready for the second feature later that night.
Starting from the 10th spot for the second feature, Strawn would immediately begin to work his way through the field, moving up to the fourth spot with a pass on Ryan Dick at lap 16. Strawn would then get by Bill Burrows to move up to third at lap 19, followed by a pass on Rick Warnes for second at lap 22.
With only eight laps to go and no cautions to finish out the race, the race leader had already gapped the field and Strawn was unable to close the gap before the checkered flag in the 25 lap feature. As a result, he would cross the finish line second.
Despite some problems throughout the year mixed with some good runs, Strawn and Brad Stevenson would place the No. 77 Eibach/Kingsmen Kustoms Modified third in the final Ontario Modified Racing Series points standings.
