Noah Gragson will have big shoes to fill in 2017 as the Las Vegas native will take over the reigns for rookie phenom William Byron in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Kyle Busch Motorsports announced on Friday that the 18-year-old will fill Byron’s soon-to-be vacant seat in 2017.
Gragson, a member of the 2016 NASCAR Next class, began racing bandoleros at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring, the same place where team owner Kyle Busch began his racing career.
“It’s hard to believe that about four years ago I toured Kyle Busch Motorsports as a young fan and aspiring driver in awe of the massive trophy collection, how immaculate the shop was and getting the chance to meet Darrell Wallace Jr. — now just a short time later I’m going to be competing for them full time in the Camping World Truck Series,” Gragson said.
In 2016, Gragson has competed in both the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West divisions full-time where he has scored four victories across both series. Gragson sits third in West Series points with one race remaining.
Gragson’s sponsors, crew chief and truck number will all be released at a later date.
In addition to Friday’s announcement, Busch announced on Thursday that driver Christopher Bell will remain with the team full-time in 2017.
